Abstract

The Republic of Indonesia Radio Public Broadcasting Institution (LPP RRI) is a government institution that have duties and functions in its broadcast programs. One of the tasks of this institution is to provide information services, education, healthy entertainment, social control and bonding, as well as preserve the nation's culture. This research aims to analyze the communication of the production team and the network formed by the production team in fulfilling the information needs of listeners on the West Sumatra Pagi Radio Pro 1 RRI Padang program. This research uses Karl Weick's organizational information theory to explore in-depth how the West Sumatra Morning Program production team communicates in fulfilling information for Radio Pro 1 RRI Padang listeners and the communication network formed in the production team. The research method used by researchers is qualitative by obtaining data from multiple sources, namely observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the research show that the communication of the RRI Radio production team in fulfilling the information needs of listeners on the West Sumatra Morning Program went through a communication process in 3 (three) stages, namely pre-production communication in the form of agenda-setting meetings with all team members, production process communication that occurred in the studio during the program the West Sumatra Morning dialogue event, and post-production communication that occurred as an evaluation for the production team. From the data that obtained, researchers can classify communication pattern networks based on the communication process or information flow in the organization of the West Sumatra Pagi program production team, both in the vertical and horizontal dimensions. Where in the vertical dimension there is a communication process that exists between the Person in Charge and the producer, event director, gatekeeper, editor, journalist, broadcaster and studio technician, while in the horizontal dimension, the communication process exists between the production team. The communication network formed in the production team is an all-channel pattern network, where the entire team can communicate with all the production team members without any communication barriers.
