Penyajian Materi Secara Sederhana dan Menggembirakan Mendorong Minat Mahasiswa Asing Dalam Belajar Bahasa Indonesia

Abstract

Learning Indonesian language for foreigners is not an easy business if you have to reach a skilled level. However, songs can be used as a medium of learning that is simple enough and can create a cheerful atmosphere. Teaching Indonesian language with this song media was carried out in a lecturer exchange activity between STIKS Tarakanita and Polytechnic University of the Philippines(PUP). On this occasion Indonesian language was one of the lecture materials delivered. Song was chosen as the media because it was simple, fun and easy to understand. The objective of the teaching activity was that the students of PUP could understand some of the Indonesian vocabularies for daily communication and got to know the culture of several places in Indonesia. Therefore, in addition to using song as a media, culture was also raised because it was a treasure that could attract the  attention  of  the  students  and  gave  some  insights  to  foreign  students  about  Indonesia.  The Indonesian cultures there are songs, dances, and special procedures that can be appointed as interesting media introduced in the teaching activity could gain the students’ enthusiasm because Indonesian cultures were quite new things to them. A pleasant atmosphere and simple presentation of materials make the students feel happy to acknowledge the learning materials.
