Pelatihan English Speaking untuk Orang Muda di Penajam, Paser Utara

Abstract

In line with the ideology of Indonesia founding fathers that every people in all area of Indonesia must get a good quality of education, many actions have been done by academic institution to improve the skill of those who have not achieved the desired skill and knowledge.  One area that becomes the centre of attention nowadays is Penajam. It is because the new capital city of Indonesia is planned to be moved there. It will affect the tighter competition because many people from other area will move there. In order to prepare people in Penajam to face the competition, especially for the youngsters, the training needs to be given. STARKI welcomed the proposal of collaboration with Carlo Borromeo congregation to provide the English-Speaking training to high school students. The training was carried out through online since the government still imposed the travel limitation. Before the material was designed, the lecturers had a meeting with the sisters and the students to know their needs. From this needs analysis, we designed the material that was in accordance with their needs. They seemed enthusiastic in following the training and show an improvement in their speaking skill.
