Food security issues in urban areas demand innovative solutions that can address the challenges of limited land and limited public access to conventional farming. Hydroponics, as a soilless plant cultivation method, offers a strategic alternative that can be implemented by urban communities, especially the younger generation. This community service program aimed to introduce and train basic hydroponic skills to vocational high school students at SMK Negeri 70 Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta, equipping them with the knowledge and practical skills to support household- or community-level food security initiatives. The activity was conducted in a one-day session, consisting of two main stages: a two-hour educational seminar and a two-hour hands-on practicum. The seminar, entitled “Young Greenpreneurs: Food Security Alternatives in the Digital Era,” covered hydroponic systems, suitable plant types, agribusiness opportunities, and digital marketing strategies. The practicum was conducted in group rotations, with each group responsible for different stages of hydroponic farming—from preparing the planting media to harvesting and postharvest handling. The learning method employed was experiential and participatory in nature. The results of the activity showed high levels of enthusiasm and engagement from the students. Participants were able to follow instructions effectively and complete each stage of the practicum successfully. This program not only enhanced technical knowledge but also fostered entrepreneurial interest in modern, technology-based urban farming. The activity made a tangible contribution to shaping student character that is adaptive, productive, and aware of food security issues through a relevant, context-sensitive educational approach.
